Who we are

The Directorate General for Security and Safety (DG SAFE) ensures safety and security of the persons, buildings and assets within the European Parliament’s premises. In addition, it commits to provide high quality security services by developing modern working methods, digitalised processes and using state-of-the-art technologies and equipment.

We are a dynamic and cross-functional unit within DG SAFE (Safety and Security) who serves the whole European Parliament. We always look for the best solution in all circumstances and we aim at continuously improving our response capacity and capability.

Our vision: to meet security and safety requests and requirements 24 hours a day, provide remote monitoring of Parliament’s buildings and technical facilities.

Our mission: to provide a dispatching service 24/7, follow up and provide feedback on all matters relating to general security and fire safety.

 

Your tasks

An internship in the Organisational Sector of the Emergency and Control Room Unit consists of:

  • Assisting in the elaboration of projects designed to improve working methods in the operational front office as well as in the administrative and organisational back office according to recognised standards;
  • Assisting in the design of operational key performance indicators for operational sectors;
  • Under the guidance of the team leader assisting in redefining/updating standard operating procedures for the Emergency Unit;
  • Liaising with the personnel over the three sites to ensure procedures and processes are delivered according to established processes;
  • Developing and reviewing work processes through measurement and statistical modelling.

 

You are

We are looking for a candidate interested to work in the field of security able to interact in both English and French.

If you think you meet the following requirements, you are the person we are looking for, for this internship:

  • Capacity to gather, analyse and process data from a control room;
  • Capacity to draft statistical analysis reports in English or French;
  • Ability to communicate complex issues in a clear and simple manner;
  • Basic knowledge of project management, procedures and processes;
  • Good team working spirit and sense of initiative;
  • Very good computer skills (Word, Excel, Powerpoint).
