Who we are

The Directorate General for Internal Policies of the Union (DG IPOL) is responsible for organising the work of Parliament's committees dealing with internal policies and for assisting Members in the exercise of the legislative, budgetary and oversight powers conferred upon the European Parliament.

The Secretariat of the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE) supports the Members of the committee in their daily legislative and scrutiny work in the field of Justice and Home Affairs (from the organisation of committee meetings, and providing advice on rules and procedures, to support during interinstitutional legislative negotiations, drafting of briefing and feedback notes, etc.).

The Internal Security/Schengen/Borders team deals with i.e. legislative proposals in the field of EU Internal security, police cooperation, Schengen and border management, visa policy. The Asylum and Migration team deals with i.e. legislative proposals in its field, including the New Pact on Migration and Asylum.

The teams of Rule of Law, Data Protection and Criminal Justice deal with i.e. legislative proposals in the field of judicial cooperation in criminal matters, fundamental rights including data protection and the rule of law.

 

Your tasks

Tasks will include:

  • Contributing to the activities of the Secretariat, by working with different administrators;
  • Working in the areas of EU Internal security, police cooperation, Schengen and border management, visa policy; Asylum and Migration; or Rule of Law, Data Protection and Criminal Justice on the preparation of legislative proposals, non-legislative own-initiative reports, oral questions and resolutions, discussions in committees, hearings, delegation visits, etc.;
  • Participation in meetings and seminars;
  • Drafting minutes;
  • Research and preparation of files;
  • Contribution to working documents;
  • Draft reports/opinions;
  • Participation in the organisation of events (e.g. hearings and workshops).
