The European Parliament stands for European democracy. We help connect it to people.  

This entails providing complete and impartial information to citizens and media about the European Parliament, and assisting Members in their communication activities. The Direction-General for Communication (DG COMM) strives to reach and engage the right audience with the right message at the right time and in doing so, deliver world-class communication. We are committed communication professionals coming from various professional and academic backgrounds.

The European Parliament Liaison Office in Ireland provides complete and impartial information to citizens, media and stakeholders about the work and role of the European Parliament and its Members.  We assist MEPs in communicating to national and European audiences and help to promote their institutional activities.  We organise discussions and debates on European topics and European values. We host press briefings and respond to media queries. We maintain an active online presence.  We build networks with stakeholders and citizens and make a particular effort to reach out to young people.  Our team is made up of committed communication professionals coming from diverse backgrounds.

 

Your tasks

  • Prepare materials for circulating to journalists in Ireland, including press releases and newsletters;  
  • Monitor Irish national and regional media;
  • Prepare media monitoring reports;
  • Generate and manage content for our social media channels;
  • Monitor social media planning and analytics;  
  • Assist with running events, online and offline;  
  • Ensure media databases are kept up to date. 

 

You are

  • Ability to communicate perfectly in written English (good knowledge of Irish an advantage);  
  • Previous experience working with or in print, online or broadcast media;  
  • Proficient in professional use of the main social media platforms;  
  • Up-to-date on the political and media scene in Ireland;  
  • Interested in and have a good knowledge of EU affairs;  
  • Able to draft clearly and concisely and have excellent analytical skills;  
  • Creative, reliable, adaptable and have strong interpersonal skills;  
  • Aware of the property rental market in Dublin.
