Who we are

The Directorate-General for Finance, hereinafter DG FINS, is responsible for Parliament’s budgetary and financial management. Based in both Luxembourg and Brussels, it draws up Parliament's budget, keeps Parliament’s accounts and prepares its financial statements, manages Members' allowances and entitlements, and finances Parliament’s political groups, as well as political parties and foundations at European level. DG FINS consists of three Directorates, 17 Units and the Central Secretariat. DG FINS plays a key and varied role in Parliament’s administration and is a trusted interlocutor for Members and political authorities. Joining DG FINS as a trainee will certainly boost your career. We value diversity, promote equal opportunities, and foster inclusion.

The Financing Political Groups and non-attached Members Unit is looking for a motivated trainee to join our team to learn about the financial aspects related to the political groups and the non-attached Members of the European Parliament, but also related to Parliament’s President and her private office and the two European associations. The financing reflects the dynamic context of the Parliament. Therefore, our tasks go beyond the purely financial matters and also have an important political dimension.

Your tasks

In addition to learning about the financial, legal and political context of the European Parliament, you will be involved in the practical work of the unit, which manages a volume of EUR 70 million annually. In particular, you will be involved in dealing with the claims of non-attached Members who wish to use their budget for political and information activities in connection with the European Union political activities. In joining our team, you will learn a lot about the European Parliament and its administration, while gaining work experience related to financial, legal and political matters.

You are

  • You are a motivated candidate who would like to learn about the financial, legal and political aspect of the work in the European Parliament’s administration;
  • You are ready to be part of our team for five months, contributing to the output of our Unit and of DG FINS, while learning about the operation of a large, international administrative organisation;
  • A background in the financial field would be an asset.
