Who we are

The Directorate General for Internal Policies of the Union (DG IPOL) is responsible for organising the work of Parliament's committees dealing with internal policies and for assisting Members in the exercise of the legislative, budgetary and oversight powers conferred upon the European Parliament.

The Finance unit coordinates the financial management of the budget of DG IPOL. One of its primary goals is to assist operational services implement the relevant rules, guidelines and procedures so they may effectively manage the funds at their disposal. Frequent interactions with staff within the DG, drafting high-quality texts and documents, planning and managing administrative meetings; and taking part in several working groups are characteristics of the assistance. 8 colleagues make up the unit, and they operate individually but with high team spirit.

 

Your tasks

We offer a unique professional experience as part of a small, results oriented, dynamic, supportive and motivated team and collaborate with them on:

  • The harmonisation and coherence of the established procedures;
  • The Creation of internal documents related to the acquisition of external services; and
  • The quality and coherence of the material and information accessible to the DG’s staff notably information accessible through the intranet of the unit.

The traineeship will also allow you to discover the activities of the European Parliament and to connect with many colleagues.

 

You are

  • You are enthusiastic about the European Project, in particular the European Democracy and EU internal policies;
  • You are eager to learn and to share knowledge/ideas;
  • You have good drafting skills and visual presentation and, eventually, you are familiar with standard IT applications e.g. Excel;
  • You have a team spirit and are willing to work within a small, friendly and motivated team working in hybrid mode;
  • You are able to understand complex information because of your keen analytical abilities and attention to detail.

Studies and/or background in the field of Business Administration, or Law would be a strong asset.

Fluency in English and/or in French (oral and written) is needed.
