Who we are

The Directorate-General for Logistics and Interpretation for Conferences (DG LINC) is the multilingual conference service hub of the European Parliament. Our mission is to enable the European Parliament to achieve its political objectives by providing linguistic, technical and logistical support to meetings and conferences. Our services support the democratic legitimacy of the Institution by helping the Members of Parliament get their message across in any of the official languages. We thus enable the legislative process and make it accessible to the citizens of Europe. This makes DG LINC a very dynamic, collaborative, and unique place of work, with opportunities for connecting with different actors across the Parliament. Information Technology and IT Support Unit is responsible for providing IT tools (hardware, software, and applications) to the Directorates, units and services It is a friendly team operating in a multicultural environment.

  • We are a team of 20 people from different horizons, gender, and backgrounds;
  • We provide decentralised IT services to the Directorate General for Logistics and Interpretation for Conferences, about 700 people, and 2000 free-lance interpreters;
  • Our main operational languages are English and French.

 

Your tasks

Your main tasks will consist of:

  • Installing hardware (laptops) using corporate IT solutions;
  • Granting and revoking access rights;
  • Assisting with the reporting of regular internal surveys;
  • Inventory related tasks;
  • Support tasks to troubleshoot issues and provide one to one or small group trainings;
  • Using scripts and corporate reporting tools to manage a large number of machines and users, for example via Group Policies;
  • Supporting ongoing projects by attending meetings, drafting minutes, analyzing data, consolidating results, generating information graphics, building/maintaining database etc.;
  • Contributing to knowledge base;
  • Contributing to certain logistical tasks and in general, supporting the DG in its mission of servicing meetings and conferences.

The traineeship should give you the opportunity to build on the knowledge acquired during your studies. Hence, we will adapt your tasks to your background as much as possible.

The traineeship aims to familiarise yourself with the activities of the European Parliament., as well as provide you with opportunities to develop a broad understanding of the European public service.

Meeting other trainees from all over Europe and contributing to a thriving work atmosphere is expected of you.

 

You are

  • You are enthusiastic about the European Project;
  • You are eager to learn and to share knowledge;
  • You are comfortable with new technologies and you have a good sense of communication (oral, written, visual);
  • You have a team spirit and are willing to work within a small, friendly and motivated team;
  • You are comfortable in following strict guidelines and have strong work ethics. You understand confidentiality is an important aspect of IT work;
  • Studies and/or background in the field of IT is a requirement. The traineeship is not best suited for developers, rather for IT system administrators;
  • Fluency in either English or in French (oral and written) is needed;
  • Willingness to learn French is considered an asset however, a good level of English is sufficient.
