Who we are

The ultimate objective of the Directorate-General for Communication (DG COMM) is to help build the reputation of the EU by showcasing its democratic legitimacy, embodied in the European Parliament. This entails providing complete and impartial information to citizens and media about the European Parliament, and assisting Members in their communication activities. We strive to reach the right audience with the right message at the right time and in doing so, deliver world-class communication.

We are committed communication professionals coming from various professional and academic backgrounds.

 

Your tasks

  • to assist the press officer - contacts with journalists, help with distribution of information to provide the Latvian public and the media with timely and accurate information on the work, decisions and activities of the European Parliament
  • to assist in events organisation
  • to assist community manager with online activities - posts on social media and the European Parliament Liaison Office (EPLO) webpage
  • active participation and assistance in youth activities, organised by the EPLO 
  • representation of the European Parliament in various audiences inside/outside the EU House
  • missions to the European Parliament in Strasbourg (an opportunity to attend the European Parliament's epicentre) and for various events all over Latvia

 

You are

  • willing to improve your knowledge of the European Union and learn more about how the European Parliament works
  • passionate to help people understand it and to inspire them to be informed and active European citizens
  • have good communication skills, both written and verbal (in Latvian and English)
  • have interest and basic understanding of social media
  • have an overview of the media landscape in Latvia
  • have high responsibility and flexibility skills
  • are willing to acquire understanding of inclusive communication by committed professional communicators working in context at the national, European and international level
