Who we are

The Directorate-General for Logistics and Interpretation for Conferences (DG LINC) provides the linguistic, technical and logistical support for the organization of the parliamentary meetings and conferences of EP Members and bodies.  By supplying state-of-the-art conference facilities, including high-quality interpretation services and conference organization we contribute to facilitating the legislative process as well as helping to underpin the democratic legitimacy of the Institution. 

This makes DG LINC a very dynamic and collaborative place to work, offering various opportunities for connecting internally and with all those taking part in the legislative process.  If you like challenges and are customer-minded then DG LINC could be a great place for you to do a traineeship. 

The Multilingualism and Succession Planning Unit focuses on the next generation of interpreters. We work with universities who train language professionals, including organizing a program of grants and organize visits for students to the EP. 

We are also responsible for the organization and running of testing procedures, including accreditation testing for new interpreters and language adding tests for our staff and freelance colleagues. We work closely with the interpreting units and have contacts across the whole of the DG, as well as forging links with other EU Institutions and International Organizations  and with universities across the world. 

 

Your tasks

Your main tasks will be:

  • Logistical support to the testing process;
  • Liaising with candidates, evaluators and jury members;
  • Helping with the preparation and grading of speeches;
  • Supporting jury members in their role;
  • Helping in the organization and running of student visits.

The traineeship should give you the opportunity to build on the knowledge acquired during your studies and to familiarize yourself with the activities of the European Parliament. We will be able to  adapt your tasks to your background as far as possible, as well as provide you with opportunities to develop an understanding of the Institution as a whole and the interpreting service in particular.

 

You are

  • You are enthusiastic about the European Project;
  • You are eager to learn and to share knowledge;
  • You are comfortable working with technology and different computer applications  and patient in helping others;
  • You have an in-depth knowledge of English. Knowledge of other languages is a great asset;
  • You have very strong communication and interpersonal  skills and are flexible and open-minded;
  • A background in conference interpreting would be welcome;
